1st Korean Big Brother Awards (external)

Korean Progressive Network Jimbonet and other NGOs held the 1st Big Brother Awards Korea on 22 November in Seoul. Winners were the National ID Card, the Ministry of Information and Communication, and "Phantom of Samsung SDI''. The National Intelligence Service received a special prize and the DNA Database of Convicted Criminals by Police and Prosecution was chosen the most popular by Netizens.

The Australian Privacy Foundation held the 1st Australian Big Brother Awards on 8 September 2003. The winners were Attorney General Darryl Williams (lifetime menace), the Internet Industry Association (corporate invader), the TICA Default Tenancy Control (technology) and Senator Chris Ellison (worst public official).
